the first 10 seconds of intro of both songs gets me every time, especially in the ghetto, that beat is too much

The Ghetto beat is lifted off a Milkbone track and is probably most famous as the beat that Big L and Jay Z freestyle over on Stretch Armstong and Bobbito's show in 95. Great beat though IMHO.

Yep - all time classic session. Still irks me that when Jay Z shouts out all the 'fallen soldiers' at his live shows (Pun, Tupac, Biggie etc) he never seems to mention Big L even though they are both from the same hood, were friends and Big L helped put him on in my opinion - always annoyed me. Plus Jay steals the 'all I got for chicks is hard dick and bubble gum' line and uses it on that Million and one questions remix (with the sick Premo beats). I know he's reapropriated a lot of classic lines as addressed on What More Can I Say but still…

I knew someone would say that and you're right. It's still early for me and I'm a mong. Big L from 139 (Lennox Ave) the danger zone along with murder Ma$e and Killa Cam and Jay Z from Brooklyn hence Brooklyn's Finest etc, etc.

That is cool- I went to Harlem to watch The Entertainers Basketball Classic at Rucker Park, had to walk through a project to get there but it was a nice area and everyone was cool. CSB but I remember wandering around trying to find the Training Camp sneaker store in NYC in about 2004 (I think) I was wearing a Zoo York T-Shirt and a rapper pushing his mix tape tried to engage me in conversation about said T Shirt and i attempted to boy him off as I wasn't keen to buy whatever he was flogging. He kept hassling me and suggesting I should give hip hop a try and I told him I loved hip hop and always had done but was tired of shit rappers in Times Square trying to push their rubbish mixtapes on me. Anyway… He says 'my name is Papoose…' and straight away I said 'Alphabetical slaughter Papoose?' and he breaks into Alphabetical Slaughter acapella. He then proceeded to spit a bunch of verses and I bought his mixtape. CSB.
