Sold it for 130 shipped It was a hand me down that Ive had it for 7 years or so and I'd just spent something like 90 quid on parts. Bit below the ebay value but without the hassle.

£130 for the MPC is an absolute steal. The earlier model that uses floppy discs as apposed to USB still goes for about £300, and that's without the spec that Sixtwo's had. They're quite tricky to use though. If you want to produce, consider starting trying out a programme like Reason and maybe a keyboard & a midi controller.

The 2k uses floppys but you can connect up an SCSI drive or card reader. Your mostly sampling in mono anyway which is tiny files this one had 32mb of ram expanded and 2mb standard.. classic has no autochop/assign like the xl and all the newer models.
I preffer the sound out of the classic/xl and I prefer to manual chop but the workflow is just too slow for me now on these old mpcs.
The 2000xl or the newer 500 are great to learn on because of the autochop and assign. You often see cheap older units with broken pads or switches come up cheap on eBay which you can fix easily. You can replace almost anything except the main board. Just avoid broken screens they're as expensive as new units.
Failing that you can get the cheap pad controllers and hook them up to some free software but its all too easy to fall into the whole edigging or constructed bullshit.
