Why, why oh why, does any dialogue around rap music always end up like this.

i don't need to defend it, i couldnt give a fuck what you or anyone else thinks, bye
Wow, what an incredibly immature, teenage response. Nevermind then.

If this happens everytime hip hop is discussed on this board, Loom, I'm assuming this guy is the common denominator.

all this never having to defend or justify anything you say or do doesnt work on the internet either.

Used to love him back in like year 10. But then he became somewhat of a gimmick.
Did you know he's from the UK?

They're still trying to deport him back I think, might be wrong. Spent a good while in jail for attempted murder.

yeah wimbledon boy innit, that's why he had that isue when he went on a cruise boat and came back, aliens convicted of violent crimes. I still like the sound, though I go through litle spats of listening to him. I like the flow and think he's got good rythmn structure.

Great adventures is the finest of it's kind, and at the time it was recognized for it. Doesn't fit in with what a lot of people are looking for nowadays and people see stuff like indian girl and call it corny and a joke but he is honestly incredible at what he does.

Heavy beats and raps on this. Two of my favourites Smiling

I'm quite sure he was pardoned for the deportation thing.

Edit: my friend who lives in New York put up this Facebook status yesterday:
Today I almost ran over Slick Rick on 233rd street in the Bronx lol….thought he was deported?!?!?

One of those guys where he has a few classics even if you don't like him (Childrens Story)

I'm not a common fan but 'I Used to Love Her' is undeniably a classic.

Well yeah, Slick Rick's a hip hop legend, that's beyond dispute. Everyone's favourite rapper has done a song directly imitating his style already.

Just because someone hasn't mentioned his name, doesn't mean they're not fans or that they don't recognise him as a legend within hiphop. Loads of legends or people haven't been mentioned.. Ice cube for starters, eazy e.. I'm assuming everyone here listens to various artists, so no one can list every artist they're slightly interested in.
On the immortal technique and canibus thing.. I am aware of most if not all their work. I used to be big fans of both until it started grating on me.
Jayz hasn't been mentioned enough as far as I'm concerned, yeah ok, his last 3 albums have been a bit poor, but every single album up until the black album has been a classic.
Dre ain't getting enough comments too, a true pioneer of hiphop and production.

Apart from Reasonable Doubt which is a classic I've never really rated Jay-Z. Just don't believe what he's saying is true (not that 99% of rappers back storys aren't made up) he just sounds strange talking about drugs and killing.

Dre however is a legend, pioneered Gangster rap with NWA and 2001 is an album you can listen to over and over again without getting bored. Think Detox will ever drop? Laughing out loud

Agreed.
