have you all tried repairing disk permissions? that normally sorts out excessive beachball problems for me.

I was constantly getting this message "Sorry, Scanner Not Found; Scanner Not Initialized" a few weeks ago (even though I hadn't changed any settings on my computer. I'm using the HP c3180 all in one printer/scanner and I'm using Snow Leopard. I read on the mac forums to go System Preferences>Print & Fax> select my printer on the left, '-' it, then '+' it again, which I did. Now there is no option to scan at all. Before I could check the scan preferences etc, now I can only see the print options… I haven't got a clue what to do, I've uninstalled the HP software and reinstalled it to no avail. Any suggestions? Cheers.

Have you got HP Scan Pro installed? I have the same printer / scanner as you and that's what I use. The HP software seems to be a bit temperamental / limited in my experience though.

Yeah I've got the Photosmart Studio, it's Scan Pro that keeps giving me the error message.

I've just found and installed this

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-55009-3&lc;=en&dlc;=en&cc;=uk⟨=en&os;=219&product;=1146331

which seemed to be going fine, when i click scan, the scanner makes a noise, whereas before it didn't do anything. But then it stops and "Sorry, an unknown error occurred" comes up. Still only getting printer options in the System Preferences though.

My mouse isn't fast enough. I've sped up everything under the Keyboard And Mouse panel and under the Universal Access panel. Is there anything else i can do?

If you mean with the new 27" iMac then the answer is no.
