Carry on using it as normal? Sounds like you got away with it.

I was told that a lot of people had been prosecuted or something like that in the states, that's why the site was down for a while.

If you're using Safari on a Mac go to 'View' in the menu bar along the top, should be in there!

Finally biting the bullet and replacing my old PowerBook.

Bearing in mind it has a 1.67GHz G4 processor so anything will be faster than it, will I notice much difference between a 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, a 3.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, a 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 and a 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 processor setup?

And what are the benefits and drawbacks of those options?

3.06GHz / 3.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

2.66GHz / 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel

It will mainly be used for Photoshop and Illustrator work. And fuk.

Doubt you'd notice the difference, why not just expand the cheapest ones graphic card. (no expert).

That was another question I meant to ask actually, is there much of a difference (and will I notice it) between the ATI Radeon HD 4670 256MB and the ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB?

I want to future-proof myself as much as possible.

from what I know the amount of dedicated memory does make quite a difference

you might want to read this before you decide whether it's worth it or not:

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404898.html#features

I'd buy another 4GB of system memory over the GPU upgrade. You'll notice that way more than you will notice the benefit of a faster graphics card in photoshop.

I read that and I'm none the wiser really - idiot's guide please Laughing out loud

I had wondered about more RAM rather than a faster graphics card or "better" processor.

It's just telling you what specific features of photoshop use the graphics card as opposed to the CPU. So it gives you an idea of what area you'll see (minor) improvements in by buying a faster graphics card

A lot less than you'll see by having a faster cpu and memory Smiling

If there's nothing actually wrong with it I'm sure you could get it running well again. I have 3 macs older than yours and they all run fine. Have you tried anything to diagnose/rectify the problems you're having? My gf's newish macs was running v slow so I told her to get Onyx and run all the maintenance/cleaning - did the trick…
