Air

You'll end up using the iPad for majority of the time (I do). Only use the air for downloading at the moment but will be using it for work, mainly power points, when work starts again

Thanks Doug they look good.

I bought it outside eBay PP Gift.. But luckily the guy is genuine and is refunding me.

He's pissed off - he bought it off eBay himself a week before for £200 more than I paid.. but he decided he wanted a 13" instead and didn't even check the plug.. So he's looking to get a refund off OG seller.

Cheers for your help btw Smiling

i had the same deliberation last month and went for a pro but only because i'm boring and technologically inept. you can compare the spec of a pro and an air on the mac site which i found helpful. i guess it really depends on what your main purpose is. if you're looking for something that is essentially small, light and portable, and you won't have any difficulty in not having a disk drive or ethernet port then go for the air. i decided on the pro because while i take it some places, most of the time it sits in my room like a desktop. you can also get a more powerful processor and more storage. my mate got an air and he's a whizz with all this icloud external storage and linking devices shit and he couldn't believe i bought a pro. swings and roundabouts.

yeah im just not sure, I will be bringing it out sometimes but not always, will mostly just be in my flat..
i never ever use a DVD drive but maybe would like the option sometimes..
also, only thinking about raw speed, is the £1200 MBP faster than the similar priced Air?…

13-inch : 256GB
1.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor
Turbo Boost up to 2.8GHz
4GB memory
256GB flash storage
Intel HD Graphics 4000

13-inch: 750GB
2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i7
Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
8GB 1600MHz memory
750GB 5400-rpm hard drive
Intel HD Graphics 4000

this is the spec for the two. top is the air, bottom is the pro. the pro is faster, and there's more memory. but if you're not planning on working it that hard either way, the difference is (probably?) almost negligible. i don't really know much about this stuff though, so i'd recommend calling the guys at apple and telling them exactly what you're after in a machine. they were really helpful with me.

If you're not planning on using it on the go much, and you'd be going for the 13" anyway, I'd go for the MacBook.

It's faster, has more disk space, and can be upgraded later, so future proofs yourself a bit.

anyone use mail.app? The search is useless, even though I know for a fact emails content contact a certain word, it only finds the most recent?

I use it and don't have a problem with the search (Mail 4.5 and OS X 10.6.Cool.

Have you upgraded your OS recently? In the past when I've done that I've had to "re-index" Mail for it to see and find my older e-mails - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4801

edit: lots of geeks saying that Apple disabled the "search entire message" option in Snow Leopard due to it "not working properly".

You can search for e-mails via Spotlight if that helps.

Dunno if anyone, like me, was having problems with battery life under Mountain Lion OSX 10.8, but the new update (10.8.1) seems to have fixed it, also speeding things up around the desktop to boot.

Finally got a 15 Macbook Pro (late 2011 version). Updated to Mountain Lion, love it.

Any apps/plugins I should be looking to get to enhance the experience?
