If you have the music on the iMac, and you have a hardrive, simply copy the itunes folder, put it on the hardrive, replace the itunes folder on the mbp, and when you start itunes, hold ALT and choose the old folder. You could place it anywhere you want though. Or use sharing on itunes.

If you wanna lift off the music from the ipod, use a program for it. Senuti (itunes backwards) is good. Heres a link to it with a keygen so you dont have any limits on 1000 songs and all that crap:

(i Zipped it so i didnt have to link to two files )

Jordan wrote: also, is there no way that i can sync my ipod and iphone, with my mbp, rather than just my imac?

thanks in advance!

Answer:

"There is no built-in means to sync non-iTunes purchases from the iPhone to the computer to start with.

1.You will want to set iTune to not Automatically Sync before connecting the iPhone. From the iTunes Menu, choose Preferences, and then Devices. You will see a checkbox labeled "Disable Automatic Syncing for iPhones and iPods," put a check in that box.

2.Make sure sure the MBP is logged into the iTunes Store with your correct iTunes ID.

3.Connect your iPhone.

4.To get your purchased content from the iPhone into iTunes, choose "Transfer Purchases from xxxxxxxx" from the File Menu:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848

5.Important! Before initiating a sync with the iPhone, go to the Info tab for the iPhone and enable Contact and Calendar syncing.
Make sure that no Sync options are checked/enabled under the Music, Photos, Podcasts, Video or Applications tabs. Choosing to sync any of the media from these tabs will erase the corresponding content from the iPhone.

Click the "Apply" button to sync with the MBP. This will merge the contact/calendar data with iCal and AddressBook but leave your iTunes media content on the iPhone."

Cheers nick, will pass on,

Phil, Its mostly for direct agencies or applications, so i think she wants to try and get it locked down as 1 file she can keep using thats like under 1meg.

BTW sweede, futher to the iphone lock, £15 unlocks it, through apple via 3. I wish i knew that before i ordered through CPW. They told me all people are told on the phone that the phone will lock to whichever sim is installed. So ive put in a complaint as im sure they never told me that.

Any other recomendations for specific pdf compression sites, let me know, cant find anything that looks any good so far.

Apple quartz is built into OS X. Open the PDF in Preview, choose export, and below format you have Quartz-filter, choose reduce size and you good to go.

The images need to be reduced in resolution before making it into the pdf, thats all the program is doing.

Just put them into iphoto, and then export and choose a smaller size, jpg quality maximum if you have no specialist program

On a A4 say with word, you can put any size photo and it resizes down to the page width, but it is in reality way too wide, word etc dynamically resizes how the image looks but it is still a very big file size.

8x reduction means around 25% of the original resolution.

Thinking of buying an Apple TV and would like to be able to mirror movies from an Ipad (3rd gen) to the device, but in avi formats and mp4 formats… what are the ways I can do this? Is it possible without jailbreaking the devices?

There´s a bunch of ways. CineXPlayer is a popular way: http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/cinexplayer-best-way-to-enjoy/id384098375?mt=8

AvPlayerHD is another one, VLC is out there if you jailbreak it. Plex is great to if you wanna stream you whole library on your computer to the iPad and then mirroring it to the ATV. Plex also let you acces friends plexlibrarys if given access.

But try out CineXPlaye, does what you asked for.

Or you do what I wrote, I have PDFs in 25k size that works for giving out as CV´s. Your not gonna give out a CV as a jpeg right? PDF is more asked for, and more professional. Use Preview and Quartz-filter for reducing PDF´s. Thats what it is for, and its built into the system.
