Thinking of buying an Apple TV and would like to be able to mirror movies from an Ipad (3rd gen) to the device, but in avi formats and mp4 formats… what are the ways I can do this? Is it possible without jailbreaking the devices?
There´s a bunch of ways. CineXPlayer is a popular way: http://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/cinexplayer-best-way-to-enjoy/id384098375?mt=8
AvPlayerHD is another one, VLC is out there if you jailbreak it. Plex is great to if you wanna stream you whole library on your computer to the iPad and then mirroring it to the ATV. Plex also let you acces friends plexlibrarys if given access.
But try out CineXPlaye, does what you asked for.
I work part-time for Apple, and sometimes when I do a demo for customers with the ATV, I take my private iPad, fire up plex, show them my 800+ movies and 2000+ tvshows neatly organized on the ipad, streamed from my iMac at home, and I show them my 5 colleagues plex library too. So about 5000 movies on my iPad. Start one, and I stream it to the ATV. Never fails to impress. Once sold 2500 iPads on the go that way (I work against business and school clients)
