Need to tale my Macbook air in to see a "genius". Too late to book an appointment for this weekend, if I just turn up on spec will I get seen? And I am looking at a very long wait (will be Apple Store Reading if this helps)?

Went in today in the end, relatively painless.
They're replacing the screen which is good, would have been £300 if I didn't have Applecare, although I would have argued if I didn't have it. Expensive kit under 18 months old should not need a replacement screen

Found a nice little feature on my macbook today - tap any word with 3 fingers and an explanation of its meaning pops up Cool

Yeah love mine, madness that there are now basically no large HD mp3 players on the market

I'm looking to buy a new computer in the new year and I'm considering going for a refurbished model, is there any point?

I don't mind buying second hand, I just want to make sure it'll actually last me. From what I've heard from friends about refurbished macs is that there's not much difference aside from typical parts exchange. I have my eye on a 13" Macbook Air from here, which is a tad cheaper than what I'd pay at the Apple store;

Bought 2 MBPS and a couple of iPads from apple refurb direct. No difference to buying new other than the cheaper price and plain boxes.

Wouldn't buy a refurb from a 3rd party when apple do decent enough deals themselves

Macbook charger broken. If it isn't covered by their warranty where is the best place to buy a new cable with regards to reliability, build quality and warranty?

Bird has just bought an "original and authentic" charger off ebay for 35 quid. 65 from Apple I think.

Will do a review when it arrives.

Ace cheers. Obviously I've heard everything about third party ones breaking after a month but the thought of giving Apple £65 for a charger winds me up.
