Easy to get an earlier o/s, just go to app store > downloads, sure to be one in there.

Seem to be pretty major problems with yosemite……

That wiped the whole computer though, no? I was looking to try and keep all my stuff when i was going back to the last O/S.

Yosemite was a bit dodgy to begin with but not had any problems for quite a while.

Just copy your user folder to a spare drive pre install, then copy back whatever you want post install. Luckily I've got a server full of applications so any needed I could take from there.

My friend's MBP was restarting every 15-20 mins, some dodgy code in there to crash an o/s without any apps running.

My (pretty new) rMBP is making a funny little glitchy noise every now and again, it sounds a bit like a little static or crackly noise but only for less than a second and only every now and again, thoughts? Will probably take it in anyway but getting a laptop appointment is a ballache

Mine does this (15" rMBP released Oct 2013). It's a common thing. Can't remember the exact reason, but if you Google 'retina macbook clicking' you'll see a million threads about it. Not harmful from what I've read.

Fans? Mine made a fucking racket at one point but sorted itself out. Completely redundant now as the motherboard went and now the battery has swollen busting the case wide open, ruined.. £2.5k worth of junk purchased back end of 2011.

mate spilt glass of red wine on macbook pro last night. thought it was all fine but turns out most of the number keys have stopped working as well as a couple of others [keyboard backlight]. is the best thing to do to take it into an apple store and tell them/what will the damage likely be? think its literally just gone out of warranty.

Had someone spill beer over mine about 6 months a go, same sort of thing happened where certain keys weren't working etc. Apple fixed it for ~£140 iirc

Always worth gibing it a go in an Apple store as they're often pretty nice if you're up front with them, also if it's just the key's that aren't working then quite possibly just needs a new topcase, costs couple hundred.

Is anyone able to recommend a good email handler for mac? Really not keen on their own Mail app, and want something to handle my gmail that isn't web based.

Cheers

yep sold mine (2010/2011 entry level MBP) for about 200, as the screen and other parts are still worth cash even when the logic board has gone.

bit of an odd one, my mbp and my flatmates macbooks have all decided to lose wifi connectivity in the lounge (where the wifi hub is), but they all work in the flat in other areas. anyone know why this would be?
