I got 350 in the end. The bloke that bought it messaged me to say that all he did was wipe a wire and it was functioning perfectly.

Yet Apple quoted me 700 for repair!

There's a lot on the net about the BT Home Hub (plus other dual and routers) and wifi connection randomly dropping with people using Yosemite on their Mac. Possibly just coincidence that you notice it dropping in the living room only? My brother has the same problem with his MBP since updating to Yosemite (he's with BT too).

Here's a 100+ page thread on the Apple support forums about wifi dropping and there are a few people on there (such as PFJ30) talking about the Home Hub 5:

I just deleted my location settings for that wifi connection, restarted, added a new location taking care to rename (differently) and all works again without signal dropping. Got that from an Apple forum thread a week ago.

Does anyone have some data recovery software for Mac they can share?
Just asking before I shell out 100 USD for one of the recommended ones….

Cheers,

Anyone know how I can email a file to my iPhone email and then use as a ringtone, without going on PC or MAC iTunes?

If you happen to have the GarageBand app installed on your phone it can apparently be done through that: http://7labs.heypub.com/mobile/iphone/add-ringtone-iphone-without-pc-mac.html

What's the reason for not using a computer? Can you get someone else to do that bit and send you the file?

Macbook retina 13 mid 2012 equipped with i7 2.9GHz or newer mid 2013 with 2.6GHz i5? Latter offers better battery life, but i7 has slightly more grunt according to the benchmarks.

if you want a powerhouse machine you would be better of with a 15" with quad core.
id go for the newer i5 personally, bags of power for your average user

I like the portability of the 13, really. The i7 would be the same price as the i5, but, from what I can tell, the i5 is probably the better option given that it has the better battery performance. You're right though, there's plenty of power in the CPU for most users.

Random one, might cop an iPad while I'm in HK. Anyone know if it'll be cheaper in the airport or in town? Or no difference?
