Yeah, determine what model your MBP is and just search 'Macbook Pro early-2013 SSD replacement' for example and there'll be plenty of guides to help you through it. I have a mid-2012 that I've spruced up a few times and it flies. You'll save yourself mad wedge too.

If your MBP currently has a HD inside, upgrade that to an SSD. They're not too pricey now and I dunno if you'd need additional external storage. Though you're better off scrapping the old HD regardless (rather than still using it for external storage) and investing in an additional external SSD if you still need more storage.

i upgraded the HD to SSD in my mid 2012 macbook and it still works great now, i also ripped out the CD drive and added a second internal drive. will upgrade it to a new macbook at some point - just super annoying now you cant upgrade storage yourself…

Think I'm on my 4th swapped SSD in my MBP, keep filling it then getting a new one double the size then filling that one Laughing out loud

You've mentioned you've got 4gb RAM as well, while you've got the back off you can easily swap that out and double it (or quadruple if budget allows), will help things run better. See what max RAM your machine can take here.

Was going to buy a new MBP in the summer but as said above, from around 2016 they're pretty much locked down from any DIY so will probably get a late 2015 model when I eventually replace my 2009 MBP.

Definitely the best option. I suggested using it as an external drive just because it comes for free, but the cost of an empty case off Amazon, but for sure not reliable and fast as a SSD

If you take shitloads of pics with your phone and edit them then yes. Otherwise get the regular 12 and buy some sexy ass perfume shit.

Think I'm going to order the Pro Max.
Seems worth it for the better camera but wish they did the same camera in a smaller model.
