Rather than create a new thread.

Am going to be in London on 2-4 October and was thinking of staying at the Andaz Liverpool Street.

Is this location near enough to the usual shops such a DSM, Hideout etc and for going out to dinner/drinks at night? If not could you recommend any other hotels? Hoxton hotel is booked on the friday

Yeah it's fine, you're on the central line at Liverpool Street so only a few stops to Oxford Street and there are loads of nice places to go for dinner/drinks in shoreditch, if you're pushing the boat out go to les trois garcons. Hoxton Hotel is further away from DMS/Hideout as Old Street is the nearest tube

quite far away from DSM & Hideout if you were walking it, but about 15 mins on the tube - it'll be no hassle getting there & from what I've seen, that hotel is sweet..

there are also shops to check out east, which will be about 10 mins away - start boutique, fontelroy's pop's new place, a butcher of distinction..

fair few good restaurants around too - could maybe have a look at les trois garcons..

not sure how well you know the area, but liverpool st is dead close to spitalfields and brick lane markets - good to go go and walk round on a sunday & you can get some great streetfood around the truman brewey markets..

russ I am sorry to say that as someone who lived in 'Hoxditch' both 'before and after' my main recommendation for places to avoid would be the entire area itself for the simple reason that it used to be cool but now people from out of town descend on the place at the weekend making it truely unbearable and no different from the West End so you may as well just get down to Leicester Square.

Brick Lane and Columbia Road markets are worth checking out on a Sunday otherwise for a really good night out head further east to Bethnal Green.

I'll be asking dinner recommendations nearer the time & where this afterskool place is Laughing out loud

You're looking at it from the wrong point of view, for people that don't live here (no patronise) it's fine for a weekend/few days, he ain't gonna want to spend his time in Clapton is he

Come to afterskool, say hi to me and probably a few other fuks.

Used to live near bethnal green- the pizza place by the station is amazing, best pizza ive had in london. Where do you go for a night out in Bethnal Green though? Never seen anything but a couple pubs

Used to live in Cremer St and I take all your points Monday through Thursday is/can be good fun. My mate used to own a tiny tiny bar opposite The Griffin and I lived there every day for a year before I realised I maybe had a problem with alcohol and being able to tell a 4 from an 8 after 9pm so I moved to W11 which is REALLY quiet but more suitable for a 30+ good looking, well hung and amazingly gifted bastard like me.

Hoxditch now at the weekend is hard work and not fun. I wouldn't go to the Blue Last if beer was free.

…so to answer your question anywhere really used to like the pubs around Vic Park mostly…

I admit I am jaded I did it too much and ended up hating it. Do miss Underdebridge and Vibe bar. Think Brick Lane is slightly better than Shoreditch on a Saturday…

Be quick cos it's going soon.

Edit - just realised Fontelroy mentioned.

Last time I went to Blue Last it was remarkably shit and I ended up almost fighting with the bar staff.

Wicked if I had been there I would have been right behind you, smashed the whole place up with one punch and killed everyone in the face. That place is 'Ground Tosser'

Saves making a new thread.
Whats shoreditch etc to live like on a daily basis? or the surrounding areas. need to be able to get into the city within 20-30 mins max no more so what other options are there?

considered moving to Brick Lane about 10 yrs ago but there's no real escape to anything round there - lack of green spaces, parking, etc and now it can be quite expensive too.

when you say the city, do you mean the City of London? if so, there are plenty of commutable places within 20/30 mins but it depends on your budget. if you are looking for a deal - Elephant and Castle is being regenerated and is very close to the City and also has pretty good connections.
