Its hard to predict whether the huge fall is from selling off or if traders and II's are manipulating the market to soften their short positions.

If it climbs back to the 350 dollar mark then I'd be inclined to believe it was manipulation.

its already ticking up to around 250 again from 125 a hour ago.

from the former i reckon, when the only option is to sell for three hours, gonna get a load of people offloading who made a bit in the last week and are happy with that

Will the business (GME) benefit from any of this?

in the long term they'll benefit from not being shorted to the extent they were, yes

I'm not so sure, I think many are holding but the brokers are probably being pressured to freeze trades by the big boys and that isn't helping.

I have no position so couldn't care, but its fun to watch.

I wonder if any new legislation will come about because of this.

How do you stop people getting together and talking about what stock to buy?

Impossible?

In "punishing" the hedge funds, could this reddit lot be wiping out norms life savings or am I being stupidly naive here?

If you were in GameStop already, you'd have bought at the low - however, if you bought during the 'hype' you should really know what you're potentially getting yourself into.

Isn't it pretty much mass market manipulation?

with the rise in share price there was an argument that they could raise some serious capital by issuing more shares (dilutes the current shares slightly so would knock down the price). the capital could be used to invest in modernising the business etc.

Which bank will underwrite the issuance at the current price?

Seen a few people say this, but I genuinely don't think theres anything wrong with it, hedge funds put together other people's funds and trade collectively, these lot are buying in individual accounts. Nothing illegal it grey about it imo. Institutional traders have got away with it and worse for years.
