Having financial backing is different to being part owned though isn’t it? Especially if it’s family. Imo it’s the ownership in part or full by a bigger entity that defines something as non-independent.

That’s why I don’t consider YMC indie, being partially owned by FCUK, which is owned by Ashley, again partially.

I think there are levels too it, borrowing money from your parents as a one off to launch a business seems a lot more admirable than a business being a play thing for some wealthy kids who have an unlimited unchecked credit line,

I noticed that too. Plus a store closure and now 15% off everything on top of a 30% sale.
