I'm about to start redecorating our bedroom (just a tidy up really, fresh coat of paint etc.) and want to get some shelves in there but not really sure what's available apart from Ikea and the other obvious ones.

We need one that is going above the radiator that needs to be approx 185cm long and really no wider than approx 15cm. For this one, i'm really stuck, i made one before but it was a disaster and looks shit. It doesn't need to support much, just a few ornaments and occasionally some of the wife's toiletries. I considered Visoe but don't think it will go, it's a maybe a bit too clinical for the rest of the room (although it could still work) the brackets are too long for where it will be going and the shelves are too wide so I'm open to suggestions.

The second lot are to go in an alcove above a chest of drawers so approx 100cm long and we'd like 2 or 3 of them. I love these Alvar Aalto ones:

But they are totally out of our price range so if anyone knows of anything similar (or maybe completely different but with a similar vibe) then again, I've welcome some suggestions.

have you thought about having someone make them for you so they could be bespoke and fit and have similar styling, I reckon you could could get something made quite affordably in the style of the one in your link, maybe using steel rather than wood for the bracket. (obviously depends on the decor in the room if this would work or not) but I think worth and option as its a pretty basic thing.

Good idea, after I posted, I found this:

Which is what I think we'll go for above the radiator. I'll have a look at other bespoke options for the alcove.

they look good but wouldn't cacti need soil to last long, maybe not?

you can get similair on etsy etc but I've never seen ones where you can observe the roots in just water.

Have to look into that, I do think they need soil eventually. This user makes similair things, maybe he could do that hydro too.
