Hi folks, after some sage advice if at all possible. Particularly from any forum members with the relevant trade or similar renovation experience. I live in a lower ground flat (which is to say it's basement level at the front of the house and is ground floor level at the rear). I'm getting started with the 1st bedroom which is at the rear of the house and I'm having difficulty getting straight answers on appropriate flooring solutions.

Spec as follows:

• Room Dimensions: 13’3” x 10’9” [4.05m x 3.28m] approx.
• Room type: Double bedroom ground floor
• Current subfloor: partially the original wooden floorboards / partially marine ply where plumbing works occurred
• Current underlayment: carpet underlay
• Current floor covering: carpet

I've had folk come in and quote at various levels of the price scale, but none take me on when I ask about preventive measures e.g. barriers, sealant, membranes etc for the existing sub-floor. They just seem content to tout floor coverings only and not address the potential for moisture/damp ingress.

My preferred option would be engineered wood, floated between some sort of barrier on the existing subfloor, with the subfloor being levelled and a sealant applied prior to the above.

Am I off-my-head or along the right track? Appreciate any help, shoot us a PM if preferred.

Stussy and bape are the only decent collabs they've done

Don't think of modernica as fakes though. Prob the cost Laughing out loud

I don't know much about membranes and what not but are you just speaking to flooring companies? We had our floors sanded recently after building work which caused some damage to the boards and were surprised how many flooring companies weren't prepared to do the repairs, only the sanding.

You might need to speak to a builder / all trades contractor about the sealant and membranes part so that all that's sorted before a flooring company comes in and just lays the floor.

Also is there currently any evidence of damp?

looking for a couple of RZ 61 wall panels by Rams - what's a decent price these days, quick search on google throwing up a couple which seem a bit pricey?

For those prices I'd DIY it. Did something similar a while back with birch plywood and simon hooks from Schoolhouse Electric. Spent about £60 all in. Would expect RAL coated steel to cost a couple hundred max from a decent workshop like: https://www.graepels.co.uk/products/decorative-metal-sheet-manufacturers-uk/

Unless it has to be Rams…

They don’t come cheap (seenmy has some so might be worth asking him ) also Might be worth trying eBay.de? Have been told about a braun forum online but no idea of the deets (sorry that’s not much help)

cheers been checking ebay.de - general search doesn't bring many options so seem to be quite limited and was expecting a lower £ than the few available!

vntg.com also a good site, but as it comes from traders and not individuals it will cost £££
