There will be a risk that they'll sell the "debt" onto a debt collection agency.

Anyone got any advice on the best way to pay for goods overseas?

Looking at getting more bits shipped direct from JP and AU etc. Is PayPal, HSBC or a different card a better option?

Monzo or Revolut will allow you to pay a true conversion and don't add on any fees for international payments.

Mark as gift / used
Value marked under 2000 yen
Send via EMS (does this have a signature?)

Would anyone in Japan sending a parcel to the UK need to know anything else? I assume Covid hasn't ruined things? Not unsurprisingly it's a jacket so not worried about weight.

Seemed to work fine before but that was a few months ago.

Can anyone help with buying an item from YJP that won't ship to a proxy? Zenmarket is blocking me from ordering it.

If it helps. I have just used Transferwise (never done before), and by far it is cheaper than the other methods of adding bunds on Zenmarket. Bank Transfer was quoting £638, Transferwise was £601. Cool

Do people mark down? If so, how much and do you get insurance as standard. Bought a Visvim iris so not sure if people put a certain fee for jackets? Also, is EMS just as likely to be checked as DHL?

What are people marking as the value for stuff these days?

Have a package valued at Y88k from Zenmarket. Sounds stupid but is there a sensible value, depending on the item? Declaring a jacket as worth £15, as per Crackajack's suggestion may look odd.

Also, I would rather ship via Fedex, as the delays for normal post recently have been ridiculous. Unless that will make it a problem? How has EMS been recently.

Had an elemendorf ship over with a value of £20, also had Valdez arrive okay with a declared value of £15.

You think HM customs have time to inspect values of every single jacket that comes in from outside the EU?

The only exception is if you use a courier like FedEx, where they clear it themselves and you’ll be caught out 99% of the time, whether that’s being charged or being asked to prove the value of the goods inside.

Better to go with EMS, which has generally been fine for me. Things arriving within 5 working days etc.

Used Fedex for a while, no issues marking down!

Just make sure you split the payment, i.e. pay for the goods first then follow up with a small balance for shipping as a separate payment and make sure no paperwork or tags inside.

So shall I swap to ems then? Also how can I switch to sterling on zenmarket?

Ask for paperwork to be removed. The jacket has been paid for already on zenmarket.

Still need to pay for postage but have requested its marked down to 2k.

Would UPS do the same as FedEx Rira?

Anyone know if there's a proxy service for sales? I've got a specific Japanese interest item that I want to sell on Rakuten or Yahoo Auctions, but can't find a way to do it without being a Japanese resident, which I'm not.

Just FYI Zenmarket is running about 2 weeks behind on packing. Item arrived at warehouse and packing started on the 8th, and is ready to ship today (22nd).

Got a Fedex Zenmarket package arriving today. Looks to have avoided customs. £600 Iris marked as 1800k value as Rira suggested. Cool
