Have been using Buyee for the last year or so but see a lot of people mentioning zenmakret here. Is there any big differences between the two?? Ordering stuff up to about £150ish.

Main thing is comissions, marking down packages and lost hidden fees. There is a flat 300Y comission per item bought, rather than percentage of sale.

Only issue is that there are channels that they do not support like Mercari.

If you’re planning on buying from Rakuten.jp then From Japan can be a good option, they do regular discounts. Atm they’re doing 7% off Rakuten purchases

Anyone have any experience of sending packages as a gift? This is on the HMRC site and am just checking if this is right?

Type and value of goods
Gifts worth £135-£630
Customs Duty
2.5%, but rates are lower for some goods - call the helpline

Does this essentially mean that you will only pay 2.5% on a gift parcel marked with a value below £630? Just want to understand as a parcel I am considering with EeePee is approx £800.

Just received an order from Edward, excellent service, shipped from Japan quicker than some domestic uk stores.

What are looking to get?

Speaking to Edward about something from Mercari atm that is 93k yen so weighing up options, as Zenmarket won't proxy from there.

If it is dear and you are worried about losing it when marking down, I would go with Zenmarket. You can mark down the parcel and they will then automatically include insurance for the original value (paid extra), to cover the cost if it is lost. I have done it with all parcels recently via FedEx with a value of 1,700/1,800 yen with no problems. Parcels have ranged from value between 50-105k yen.

Fedex all day long. Marked down to 1700/1800 yen. No logos, receipts etc, just the tags and bags that came with the vis pieces I got

Takes 4 days normally from JP max and have had no issues with customs. Would be a bit wary of using a drop off point. Collect plus and the off licenses machines were not talking with one another and it was a right pain. Stuck in the shop for 45 minutes on the phone and just left with it in the end. I.e. Try not to alter the delivery details if you can help it.

Any good recommendations for Japanese shops to browse that do JP domestic delivery? Keen on the 50s-70s Americana variation. I have a look at BEAMS, United Arrows, FREAK's store and Loftman, as well as specific brands on Rakuten or their own site but interested in others… What's the online Japanese equivalent of Clutch, Kafka or Bureau?

Dee is worth asking. I feel like he has bought from silver and gold etc before.

Just make sure you use Zen to buy it! Or EeePee!
