I used eepee once or twice and he was great, but he didn't respond to a few pms about a pick up I was after, so I've been using Jake since and he as been excellent.

First time using a proxy and can highly recommend Max (Emixam) and his service Macatunes. Bagged a proper nice Nonnative Trooper jacket. Nice fella and fast shipping.

What's the deal with time extensions on Yahoo JP auctions? Am watching an auction at the minute which has extended on two occasions past it's supposed finishing time.

Does this occur when reserve prices aren't met?

To avoid sniping and allowing bidders sort of another chance to bid.

no it's not like eBay whereby auctions finish at set times.
when someone places a bid in the last 8-10mins. if the option to extend is on, then the auction will extend for another (approx) 8mins.
I think it's so the seller and buyer have the opportunity to sell/buy at the max price.

Do I need a proxy to order from Rakuten? Specifically Kind-U and Ragtag.

Both are part of Rakutens "We Welcome Foreign Buyers" program, so should do international orders. Ragtag doesn't take Paypal though, not sure how you'd pay in JPY if so. No harm emailing them if both do international orders and will ship as gift /mark down. If not, mahoto@denimio.com offers a free japan proxy service, which I've used and can recommend.
