Not JP specific, but because the import rule is now no extra fee on receipt for value under £135, some sites won't process orders for less than this amount because they are supposed to add VAT and aren't set up to do it. Hopefully this doesn't become a thing.

They're currently not delivering to the UK - need to ask them when they're starting again as they have an item of mine in the warehouse

Being told I can only mark down up to 10% of the price of the item now. Is this just the new standard? Any ways around it?

Edit: for zen

Yes new standard I'm afraid. Unless you have bought something for more than £1,000, you should be fine.

Sorry that should be maybe £1300.

Yes basically the minimum value has to be 10%

Just sent this. Did yours get sent?

ZenExpress for the UK will be temporarily suspended starting November 5th due to difficulties in paying VAT on behalf of our clients (approx. 2-3 weeks).
We apologize for the inconveniences. (Parcels already shipped will be delivered as planned.)

ZenExpress is a different service. The main service is running fine. Saltz has had a parcel arrive today in the UK and mine was shipped yesterday.

Is this the usual warning been awhile? Marking down to 10%. What’s the cut off for customs again? Cheers

I agree to the following:
- The default post office and courier services insurance covers only the declared value. In case if you lowered the value, you have to pay part of the undeclared value as your ZenMarket insurance to get protection.
- Also If you change declared value we will not be able to provide any evidence if package is retained by custom service.

What’s the attraction of zenmarket over fromjapan? Is it purely that you can mark down? From what I can see it’s more expensive, given the 3.5% transaction fees to make a deposit.

Using Wise for payments is also a plus. But mark downs is good. I also have a credit limit so can buy/bid less upfront up to 50k yen.

A rather basic question about proxying! I've been trying to buy from mercari and it looks like buyee is my best option but i can't mark down. If im ordering multiple items, is the import charge calculated per item, or across the total value.

Ie. In theory, could I order lots of relatively cheap things and avoid customs or would it still be charged based on the total cost?

You'd have to ship them all individually to avoid customs and they'd each have to be below the 130£ threshold i think

How much are you spending. If you can handle a 9% buyers fee, White Rabbit Express will buy from Mercari and mark down. Not used them before but spoken with them and they are good on comms.
