BUYEE question - is it like RAKUTEN (rakuten vendor post to buyer), or do they deal with the purchase on your behalf. (item is shipped to them - then onto buyer)?

It's a proxy, the item goes to them first then you can consolidate with other orders as well..

Nobuyoshi wrote: Just an update on my last question, Buyee replied to my email and it turns down you can edit the invoice yourself on their website, as far as I'm aware marking the package as a gift means you wont have to pay any customs fee at all? Good news if so, more info below if anyone wants to try.

Yeah I still don't think you can edit the value though.

Fromjapan.co.jp, you can bid on the item yourself or setup a sniper (bids in the last 5 minutes).

Takes a few minutes to setup an account, add funds and to start bidding.

I have been using FJ and Zenmarket. I think Zenmarket is the cheapest option right now for yjp.

The best is still Stylistics Japan. Quick, easy and reliable.

I prefer Fromjapan. The ability to setup sniper bids and/or to bid on auctions yourself whenever you want provides great flexibility. They only charge 200 yen per order + 5% commission fee (no commission fee if you do an international bank transfer).

You can also collect points with them, which you can then redeem against future purchases.

Are you fucking joking with this shit? At every step using From Japan is a pain in the neck and the 5% "system usage fees" for every payment (on top of the normal proxy fees) are bullshit. Why do I have to pay a "system usage fee" to use my own deposit? WTF?

Points are almost worthless (as with all Jap points scams) and the interface is mindbendingly bad.

The only reason I used em was Buyee won't bid on some sellers who have low/neg feedback. Never again, not worth it.

Buyee doesn't allow you to adjust the value on the customs form right? So it's useless for us pommies. I'd rather pay 5% service usage fee than 20% VAT and duties on receiving items with a value of over £18 (non-gift). Additionally, 5% is fine especially if you're depositing via PayPal, as we all know there are fees involved when using it. They would be losing money if they didn't charge the end user a service fee for this as PayPal would take a cut every time someone made a deposit. As mentioned if you don't want to pay their 5% service fee, do an international bank transfer. Regardless it's miles cheaper than a lot of proxy services out there such as Stylistics.

Fromjapan user interface is fine. It went shit when they overhauled it in the new year but have tweaked it since then, and it's perfectly usable.

Points work for me and I redeem them all the time. Plus if you spend up to certain levels you get 2% / 5% / 10% off EMS shipping.

Okay yeah I guess I'm used to virtually non-existant customs limits here in Aus (even when you go over AUD$1000 limit you rarely get hit with customs duty, especially if goods are origin Japan or US with our recent FTAs thanks to Abbot the Dude…)

Also I'm sure I don't spend the kind of yen you do so yeah I can't really see the benefit buying shit head scumbag shit like 3000 yen MP jeans n shit…

from japan is best for yahoo, good choice on shipping options and shipping rates are competitive, plus no time delay as you can bid etc yourself.

for retail orders etc stylistics offers a good service and you have the trust element that he knows what he is ordering/picking up and he is very efficent in terms of turn around.
