Nah that all goes back to my parents to pay for tuition/accomodation. I get standard amount of loan (no overdraft) and that has to last me for the term and the holidays.

Even with full time work, there are some people here who seem to buy several £1000+ pieces each season. I don't see how they can afford that unless they're heavy hitters, or living at home with parents and no other expenses to worry about.

I agree with this. I've bought designer t shirts (CDG Play comes to mind) that have been terrible fits, but then picked up a tee from say howies and it's fitted me like a dream. I'd take fit over a designer label everytime. Price is a factor for me also, i've never been given money to spend on clothes so i've always been careful as to how i spend my own money in relation to commitments elsewhere.

Without going over old ground in terms of price ceilings etc, if i'm spending big money i have to know i'm going to get the wear out of it. Coats and jeans are a good example of this and are what i spend most on.
