I've got a budget of £400-£500 to spend on some knit wear, but I have no idea what to buy. I am basically after quality rather than quantity, so don't mind spending £100+ per knit, I'm after a couple of V-Necks and a couple of Crew necks. Any suggestions welcome.

SNS Herning does a range of knits so you could get a cardigan and a crewneck. The Stark knit is definitely worth the money.

cp companys fine knits are very nice, similar to smedley
oliver spencer, folk & albam are all ive used knitwise for the past year or 2
you get to a point with knitwear where imo its not worth past £200 for a knit when there is top quality in the price bracket 100-200 which these 4 labels have, defo prefer albam & folk out of those
nigel hall and smedley though aswell have some nice pieces

You can get this thing called bobble away(I think that's what it is called). I picked it up in boots in the home shopping innovations like section.

William Lockie
John Smedley
SMS Herning
St James

Herning's the most expensive of the four if you're looking for merino sweaters. When it comes to cashmere, Smedley's probably the most expensive, although they're a better fit than Lockie. Lockie are more 'traditional fitting'. All four are superb quality.

I don't bother with Smedley any more.

the uniqlo knits are just as good imo, fit better and are at virtually disposable price.

Ralph Lauren also do nice branded and unbranded stuff. US ebay always has massive bargains on RL gear.

Agree with Farhi, but they're well overpriced.

Chinese John has got a couple of M&S tank tops which he recommends.

For fashion led stuff, I guess you have to trawl the usual stores.
