Vague description anyone?

An average man is kidnapped and imprisoned in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. He then is released, equipped with money, a cellphone and expensive clothes. As he strives to explain his imprisonment and get his revenge, he soon finds out that not only his kidnapper has still plans for him, but that those plans will serve as the even worse finale to 15 years of imprisonment.

best part of the film - him eating the live octopus. he's a veggie in real life and agreed to do it for the film. my friend was telling me there's a japanese name for eating stuff live but i cant remember it

also the fight scene where he has the hammer and fights like 30 guys and the camera pans out so ur lookin through the corridor walls….incredible

Otherwise you just end up comparing the films when thats so unfair as it is a very very very good film in its own right. Also Think Oldboys soundtrack is possibly one of the best ever.

Agreed.

Lady Vengeance is just beautifully filmed, the cinematography and the musical score is just ace.

werd. love both films and think they each offer something very different. oldboy is all gritty and clumsy, in a beautiful way, whereas lady vengeance is much calmer, polished and deliberate. different approaches that give a good representation of the leads, IMO.

a scanner darkly - richard linklater's film, based on a phillip k dick story.. and i'm a sucker for a pkd sci-fi film. this didn't disappoint at all, the animation is brilliant and gives a dream like feel to it, cant really describe it other than without the live animation i don't think it would have been as good. probably the best pkd adaptation i've seen.

piece of shit movie from a director who promised so so so much, i even was championing him to do the superman returns movie a few years back, now he's just a bad joke in hollywood (as stated in entourage when they took the piss out of him by saying he was attached to do aquaman2). awful awful acting, a script made from leftover tv movies and a storyline so unbelievable.. yeah rosario dawson is gonna fall for a lard arse below average fast food worker.

i know what you mean, but its probably my favourite book of his and they kept the dialogue pretty much the same as the book which was a nice surprise. also rory cochrane is in it.. and i hadn't seen him do anything of note since empire records.
