The house that jack built
Tedious, overwrought second half. Starts of strong though.

Spiderman: into the spiderverse
Couldnt believe how entertaining this was, came in with no expectactions and got blown away. Animation in 3d was so good.

Glass. It was alright. I enjoyed split but I was quite bored by this. Nodded off briefly too.

Saw Roma this weekend at Soho Curzon. I was absolutely floored by it. Not for those that don't enjoy slow films, and really should be watched in a cinema, making the nonsensical exclusive Netflix thing all the more frustrating.

The Favourite is excellent as always from Lanthimos. Colette was better than expected, a decent film. Stan and Ollie is disappointing and bland, despite Steve Coogan and John C. Reilly's brilliant acting - they both look incredible.

On Friday went to a screening of all the episodes of Fishing with John (Lurie) at the BFI with a satellite Q&A.; One of my favourite TV shows, 1992. John Lurie (bandleader of the Lounge Lizards, acts in Paris, Texas and plenty of Jim Jarmusch films) takes guests fishing around the world including Dennis Hopper to Thailand, Tom Waits to Jamaica, Willem Dafoe to Maine. Semi-documentary in a manner popularised by The Trip etc. Very funny and very unique: Fishing With John Episode2 with Tom Waits(関西弁字幕版)

Also, for anyone that missed it, Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse is well worth a watch.

To be sincerely, my last movie I have watched - again (maybe the 30th time) is LOTR. Well, I am a devotee and a real fan to Tolkien's art, and how Jackson portrayed the idea. Being written in the early 1900s and more than today it shows the real problem and idea we front. I simply adore these trilogy.

12 Strong -

You can tell it was made in 2018, the actual team happened to be all white guys, but they insert a token black guy. You know Green Berets are actually selected on merit, not race but not in hollywood… Roll Eyes Hey there are ODAs with black guys but this team didn't have a black guy, is that racist now?

I want them to CGI in a token white guy into Glory and the Tuskegee Airmen now. It's only fair. Why not? There's a world war 2 zombie movie out now where the US paratroopers are lead by a black guy and a woman. Everything should include everyone. History should be changed definitely. History isn't fair. Roll Eyes no actually it's tokenism designed to virtue signal to the makers of the movie and does nothing but to patronise black people. If I was black I'd feel pretty insulted.

Apart from that bullshit the wardrobing and combat scenes were pretty good but went on way too long and got really implausible. Charging a rocket launcher on horseback while shooting countless Taliban? Sure why not. No that never happened. Definitely bullshit for the Call of Duty crowd.

The best scene was when the Taliban leader asked the girls questions to prove they were educated and then killed the mum. That's the only shit that actually happened pretty much taht way.

You have a good story, it's basically good vs evil but you have to insert all this other bullshit that didn't happen, why?

If you want to see a good movie about the A-stan, that is much closer to reality, see Lone Survivor.
