Discounting my pretty obvious contender for FOTY so far (Portrait of a Lady on Fire), the best two I've seen are First Cow and Bacurau.
First Cow is a very slow paced 'western'(?) literally about the first dairy cow in a frontier community, and Bacurau is an utterly bonkers Brazilian film that I can't stress enough should be watched without reading about it or watching a trailer.

Also saw Happy as Lazzaro today and loved it - Dreyer's Ordet meets Belleville Rendezvous via Tarkovsky. Mental.

There hasn't been, certainly as far as I can tell, anything in the way of decent comedies. Palm Springs was vaguely watchable, but otherwise it's all been pretty heave fare I've encountered

Anyone seen Don's Plum?
Interesting backstory…DiCaprio got it banned from release in the US and Canada

Babyteeth. Really liked it. It seems every great Australian film has Ben Mendelsohn in it.

She Dies Tomorrow
Bonkers and very unique.
If you like a bit of existential, paranoid and anxious cinema, this is for you. Perfect for the times.
If you can get past the first 20 minutes you’ll enjoy it.
Was a bit hard to keep interest initially.

I would like to see a Killing Joke batman, certainly a version faithful to the original Moore comic. This doesn't look especially good, and the utility of an afterburner on a roadcar just irritates the nerd in me. I know there's a film version of Batman that could perhaps surpass the giddy heights of The Dark Knight, but sadly not many of these directors seem au fait with the comics. Joker was pretty good though

It will be really good, as all his films tend to be. I liked John David Washington in BlacKkKlansman, and Robert Pattinson is similarly pretty decent when he gets a role he can sink his teeth into

Saw Tenet last night. Holy fuck it's quite hard to follow. Definitely needs a second watch. As usual though, Nolan absolutely nails it. Definitely recommend going to see it on IMAX if you can.

Am I the only one that thinks Nolan films are crap?

I can see why you think they're overrated as they can be very selfserious and heavy handed but garbage is a bit much
