As a huge Sopranos fan it hit a lot of right notes but it was by no means perfect. By this I mean there was maybe too much separation from the TV series main characters. Having said that I enjoyed the story, the casting and the 2 hours flew by.
If anyone hasn't seen the Sopranos I'd recommend watching this movie first as it is a great introduction to the greatest TV Show ever created. The Many Saints of Newark
Fun film, could've been way worse.
Agree with most of this but couldn't disagree more with the idea of it as an introduction - not least because of pretty hefty spoilers in the opening minutes.
Michael Gandolfini's performance is about as perfect/loaded as a performance can get. The film is worth watching for that alone. Uncle Junior is also superb. On the flip side, Silvio is truly awful, and a great example of how tricky it is to play someone that is so heavily characterised.
Ultimately, I wished it could've been longer, and it makes you appreciate how impressive it is that Martin Scorsese can condense so much weight into his films.

I was disappointed that they didn't fully make use of Christoph Waltz in Spectre. I've not watched the latest Bond, but the only decent villain from Daniel Craig's era - was in Casino Royale; So I don't hold too high hopes.
What!!!!! Thingy in Skyfall was the best ever!!
Has Bond or Dune dropped yet does anyone know?
Few recent watches:
The Exorcist. Saw it for the first time and it didn't disappoint. You can see why it scared the shit out of audiences when it first came out. Now the effects seem a little hokey but it still feels really sinister.
The Exorcist III. Weird but very watchable sequel from 1990 directed by the author The Excorcist. Unfortunately, Hollywood execs messed with his vision so some scenes feel out of place. Still a great watch though.
Stillwater. Essentially the story of Amanda Knoxx with Matt Damon playing her redneck father trying to free her. I liked it.
Pig. I Get why a lot of people didn't like it but I did. Nice, weird little indie with Nic cage doing what he does best.
I Am Sam. Hilariously bad film that would never get made today.

Really enjoyed The Many Saints of Newark. Bang on about Silvio although seeing the actor doing his walk towards the end got me
Young Tony was great as well as the guy that played Paulie although he was a little underused.
Definitely see the show first imo as half of the enjoyment comes from knowing how fucked up the characters are in their later years.

Cage on Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Movie in which he plays himself recreating his past characters. Could be dogshit but could also be genius.
