Anyone know a place that repairs crockery?

Have got a chipped decorative plate that needs a small repair, contacted one company in London that quoted me over £1500 Laughing out loud

Plate is worth £200, so hoping for something around £75?

We are flying into Gatwick Airport and wanted to hire a car for our trip to the UK. Can anyone recommend a car hire company around Gatwick Airport?

There's an Enterprise at the airport. From personal experience, within the UK I've only ever used Enterprise for long trips, while for short trips (a day or few hours) I became a member of Enterprise Car Club. With both I found them to be good, even when I dinged one of the bumpers of one of the cars Christmas just gone.

A couple of tips when renting is, upon collection take photos of the car from all angles and purchase excess insurance from someone like reducemyexcess.co.uk, which costs around £35 a year and covers you for up to £7000 excess for the duration of the policy. This actually paid for itself when I had to pay £350 for excess/repairs for the dinged bumper, and claimed against this. Don't bother buying Enterprise's excess insurance as it's a lot more expensive. Recommend doing both regardless of who you're renting from.

Do people here use air fryers? Looking at the Ninja one (https://ninjakitchen.co.uk/product/ninja-foodi-max-dual-zone-air-fryer-af400uk-zidAF400UK). Anything better out there?

That looks decent with the dual drawer.

Since I got mine, the oven hardly gets used.
By the time the oven heats up, the actifryer has already finished cooking.

Yeah im the same, had a philips one about 3 years and literally use it daily, its so quick.

Though I saw something about air fryers producing acrylamide which is a carcinogen.

Yep, use mine all the time. Ninja are great, have got the single drawer version. Also worth considering the multi cooker they do with the single lid. You can use it for loads of things like pressure cooking ribs, brisket, risotto, curries etc. Has an air fryer function and can use as a rice cooker or steamer among other things.

I have the af300 same but 7.6l which is plenty big enough unless you have a big family, it's great, I've not had it that long so still getting used to settings etc but it is very good.

Any recommendations for a home office desk. Happy to work dimensions etc but brands etc or retailers would be a big help. Planning on adding a clamped monitor stand as well.

As far as I know regarding companion vouchers, they can’t be transferred.
Not sure if there’s a platform to sell avios, but if you’re selling, let me know, may take them off your hands if you know how much you’re after.

Didn’t really know where to post this…

Basically I returned something to End using Collect+ on 19th April.
It’s still not been received by End, and apparently the driver has tried to collect it from the store I returned it to twice and it wasn’t there.
Collect+ have now said it’s missing and advised me to speak to End.
End are telling me there’s nothing they can do and I need to raise it with the police as theft.
Anyone know where I stand/had something similar happen?
I have my receipt to show that I handed it over to the staff in the shop and they scanned it. But because the driver never picked it up, Collect+ aren’t liable (apparently).

Here’s the most recent email I’ve received from End:

I have spoken with our missing parcel team in regards to your recent return and they have advised that Collect + have logged an issue with this return.

When their driver went to the shop on the 20th and on the 29th there was no parcel to collect.

Unfortunately, this means that they will not accept liability for this.

That does also mean that I will not be able to issue you with a refund or send a replacement.

I apologise for any disappointment this may cause, and I understand this is not the response you were hoping for.
If you have any further evidence to support the dispute, I am more than happy to pass this on.

If not, the next steps in this investigation would be for you to contact the police to report a theft and obtain a physical crime report. If you do this, then going forward this matter will be civil dispute between Collect + security team and the local authorities.

Any advice? I’ve logged it with the Police but let’s be honest, they aren’t going to be arsed. I just don’t want to be out of pocket for something that’s not my fault!

I’d push back on Collect+. They’ll have a contract with the shop you dropped it off at and you have a receipt to say so dropped it off there. I assume your receipt has their name or logo or something on. So if something has gone wrong between the shop and collect+ for me that’s up to Collect+ to sort.

Check their T&Cs around insurance values and liability so you have something to quote back at them.

I don’t get it, you left the parcel at end for collect+ to pick it up and someone has stolen it from end? Surely it’s their fault? They were responsible for the parcel.
