No, the side with the metal strip is legal tender. The other half is just paper.

Just look up student nights In other cities/student unions and And belatedly rip it. Unions in particular have shiity themed nights.

Do you mean blatantly? Are you a student? Probably advisable to avoid the Union nights and study more.

going out to amsterdam with my gf, spoke to mates and done a bit of research but wondered if anyone has recommendations for areas to stay in or particular hotels? stuff to do/see too? only thing i know i'm doing is going to rush hour records…

9 streets area, 290sqm, ennu, jefferson hotel ( its a shop ), tenue de nimes, baskets, azzurro, SPRMRKT for shopping.
You can also check the utrechtstestraat for some shops. There is also a spanish restaurant in this street called pata negra which is fantastic.
Museums are all up to you, would avoid the obvious tourist traps like the weed museum/sex museum etc.
Would recommend de dampkring if you want to smoke.

Source: live there now for 2 weeks ( csb )
