I've been using https://www.privatetunnel.com/ to get around Virgin's bullshit site blocking.
They give you 100mb free traffic but obviously you'll need to purchase extra if you're gonna be streaming. 100gb is 20 bucks I think. Pretty reasonable and it's a piece of piss to use.
I live in amsterdam so I'm biased but it's great imo, just skip the touristy bits and avoid the red light area (great things to find there besides prostitutes but takes a bit of work to find). Lots of good stores ranging from ricky owens to visvim back to our legacy.
Antwerp, Brugge and Gent are great too but would pick Antwerp if I could only choose one. Wouldn't visit brussels imo. Might want to visit maastricht if you're close by too as it's small enough to visit in one day but really beautiful.
Paris London and Rome are no-brainers, all fantastic cities in their own right.

Italy tops Europe for me, my Favourite country to visit.
Lets not start talking economy, politics, facism etc Just thw whole place, Alps down to the small towns to the big cities and the Amalfi coast and some amazing coastline down in Puglia. Plus the food, wine and fit women.

Amsterdam is a beautiful place. I wouldnt say avoid the tourist bits completely, at least spend half the day there. Think its fascinating walking around where prostitution is legal and i dont usually smoke weed, but doing it in a public place gives you a real sense of freedom you wont find in most places, and is all very civilized. The resin i had not had since i was a kid, was amazing.
Also, 100% your bird would get super turned on seeing all the brass about (even if they wont admit it) and go the extra mile when you get back to the hotel.
Italy is no.1 on my to do list since seeing The Talented Mr Ripley. Will book this year.
