Potentially dumb question here, but having a nightmare with broadband (copper phone line versus fibre) in a new build. Am I right in thinking that a Fibre connection just means Fibre is installed in the local exchange/green cabinet and this doesn't mean the new build, or line connecting the green cabinet to the building, also has to be fibre?

In context, I moved in and only old copper broadband was activated.. a bit of chasing with Openreach and now orders for Fibre can be made through BT/Sky. Our developer says there's no Fibre, but Openreach saying it's fine..

It's the same old copper phone line into your property whether you have "normal" broadband or fibre. What matters is whether there's been a "fibre upgrade" (I don't know the correct technical term) from the local exchange to your green cabinet.

If Openreach are saying fibre is available then it should be available with any fibre provider. For what it's worth Plusnet are cheaper than BT despite effectively being the same company. I've been vey impressed with them over the past 18 months since switching.

Could the developer be getting confused between fibre and cable?

Could be that no fibre connection is available as they are are all taken, but this is more something the ISP or Openreach would know rather than the developer. Order fibre and if it can't be delivered just cancel, you could be liable for a charge for an engineer visit though so check t&c's.

Anyone with experience of getting tshirts manufactured with screen printing or embroidery and custom branded labels inside the collar - can they give me a PM?

Cheers Cracka, Andy Smiling - I've ordered and router/box is being sent out in a coupe of weeks so let's wait and see.
