WHAT JUST HAPPENED???

I tried to pay for something over the phone (from a legit company), but my card was declined. The second this happened, HSBC called me and said they think somebody has my details. They read my last 5 payments and they were all made by me (one was the transaction that was declined a few seconds before).

Apparently I have to destroy my card and wait for a new one. I tried explaining that the payment in Sheffield (the one I was making over the phone) wasn't fraudulant, but they just kept saying somebody may have my card details.

I need my fucking card over Christmas and I'm sure they've got it twisted.

What can I do?! On hold to my local branch now.

Fuck all in my experience. If they tell you to destroy your card chances are they have processed a new one. Barclays are proper cunts for doing this and it usually takes the wankers 2 weeks to send a new card.

Anyone else get the smug letter from HSBC saying they wouldn't be continuing their investigation into my banking charges? Fucking cunts.
I scralled over mine with the message, 'i've joined the Natwest cre so boreoff' and sent it back to them. Laughing out loud
I know it won't make the blind bit of difference but it made me feel better. Laughing out loud

I did same thing and after looking at lots of charities I settled on Kids Co which I would definately recommend if you are London based. CRB took 6 months though and there is nothing you can do to speed it up. It's not easy, even if you find one you like the interviews can be tough as lots of nutters apply.

You think?

I'm worried they thought the payment I made over the phone wasn't me becauuse it would have said Sheffield. I tried to ask them over the phone if that was anything to do with it, but they avoided answering.

Changing all my direct debits is going to be long and sending my new shit to the people that were paying me money this week is going to be long.

Also, I found it odd that the called whilst I was still on the phone trying to make a payment? The second after it failed, HSBC were calling my house phone.

you shouldnt have to change direct debits etc, your sort code and account number will stay the same, its just the card details that change

the only thing that changes is the end numbers on the card and the start and end dtates and back three numbers. everything else is the same, no other grief.
someone will have tried to send a pound to check your cards working and when it worked they spotted it.
paying for something in sheffield aint gonna flag up a card mate, they are getting so good at catching the scammers.
