No idea what we have got mate, all I know is that there is an Openreach 5C master socket in front room so I would assume there is a pre-existing line.
The grey cover by the front door has some blue rope wrapped round it though, like they use to pull a new line through from distribution cabinet so god knows.

I’ve got three invites at the mo if anyone who wants one. Two things tho:
1) you’ll have to PM me your phone number
2) it’s a bit shit

Update on my broadband saga for those who give a shit
Took a punt on a Huawei B818 4G router from Amazon so I could return in 30 days if it was no good.
After a bit of playing around with positioning and trying a few different sim cards I'm now getting 50mbps download/8mbps upload on a Smarty £20/mth unlimited sim card

nowhere near as fast as what some of you with 5G or fibre will get but it's miles better than the 10mbps we would've got through the copper cable from anyone, and the Doris can now watch instagram stories without them buffering…happy days!

Decent

50mbps is the fastest I can get in my area, but it does the job!

Would definitely urge anyone to give it a go if you live in an area with basic cable-fed broadband. The B818 was so simple to set up.

I think I read somewhere before that you can buy externally mounted aerials for these routers in a bid to boost signal/increase speeds

Any advice on best media streamer? Chromecast, Fire stick, Roka?
No idea what to look for, or what the differences are.
Just want something I can access Netflix, iPlayer, YouTube, Amazon on.

We use a Roku as I can get NowTv on it as well. All those should be fine for what you want.

I use a firestick as you cant use apps like kodi or stremio on a smart tv, but they do work on a firestick. Its perfect for netflix, iplayer, youtube etc.

Just get an Android box, they are more customisable and open.
