Ealing is depressingly boring. There's some half decent pubs but their full of old men. The place has so much potential but no one seems to take a chance and try something different so they're gastropubs. One of it's redeeming features is this pizza place,voted number 1 in time Out a while back: http://www.santamariapizzeria.com/

this. its a shithole. Lived in shoreditch high street for about 6 months. wouldnt move back there again unless I a yoot.
Belsize park and those areas are well nice.
Jordan - Bit's of Southwark are nice and priced cheap plus quit central.If you like that high street vibe theres Bermondsey street, maltby Market (hello world hang out) etc

Looking for some more suggestions other than east/hackey.
the bird has said about north west, west, as she used to live in london.
im after somewhere a little quieter and safe, with a few cool shops and bars around, rather than bang in the center of the madness.
if anyone knows bristol, similar to southville/bedmo with tobacco factory etc all there on a mini high-street with a nice feel.
im still open to pretty much all areas though. still unsure on rent, as i havent got a job lined up yet, which is making budgeting hard…

Kentish Town moved in 2 months ago, it suits me perfectly, 10 min walk to work, 5 mins to the heath, 10mins to regents park / primrose and great transport. Most importantly its safe, so the Mrs can walk home alone at 1am and not get any grief.
I did a fair bit of work to the place and did a total refit since it was last done in the 80's, im toying with selling it making a quick buck and moving in closer to central, but i like having more space, i went from 35sqm to 67sqm (1 bed)

Why is east so hyped on here, its a shithole! Fine for a night out but otherwise its crap, when your highstreet has 48 varient versions of KFC you know whats up.
