Am I mad to think of living in SE1, I can get the train to kent from london bridge for work or drive out using the A2
1 bed flats in my range are all near new kent road, so elephant and castle, southwark, etc
its that or buy in kingston / surbiton and stay living the suburb life, same size 1 bed flat for the same cash really.

Don't reckon you'd like it in SE1 HW. You checked St Margarets/Twickenham? Better than Kingston similar price range.

dunno why he would hate it? it's a decent location as long as you get close to the river, just a shame it's the wrong side.

yeah i have the entire SW from twickenham through to wimbledon and the quality is miles better than SE1 for around £30k less.
i do feel Im missing out, but then again 30 minutes on the train?

Also you're getting on a bit aren't you? No shame in living a bit further out at your age. St Maragrets is almost north of the River

Nothing wrong with SE1 , lived in borough & bermondsey street for 10 years + but the area you be specifically mentioned is pretty grim . Elephant has had a shitload of money thrown at it but still not pretty. only 20 min walk over the river to covent garden as well. Metro Central Heights which is the Erno Goldfinger designed building by Elephant Always used to be decent value & I think it's just been awarded grade 2 listed status so maybe check that out.

There are great links from surbiton, waterloo in 16 mins or something. Also, you seen that the crossrail has been given provisional thumbs up ? Speaking to various places, they think this will have a really good impact on property prices. Done afew in that new riverside development, they are flying out like hot cakes, but pretty trumpy.
Im torn between staying here (love it) or moving nearer in, Fulham, Battersea, Clapham, Putney, Barnes. Got pretty decent wage now, so do i max it out on a nice central pad, or live further out and have it on the doorstep saving cash. the latter seems the most sensible option.
