what you looking for? new build or period? ex-council? denmark hill side of road is better but pricey. some decent victorian residential streets on the other side of the road near the green, mostly whole houses though. avoid anywhere around southampton way, coldharbour lane patchy, avoid loughborough junction. getting to vauxhall in a morning up camberwell new road can be grim - loads of buses but traffic's shit… all the time. camberwell's on the up, some good restaurants, art college up the road means students means bars means cheap good beer.

so why look central? and yes, you're missing out, but that's why sw is 30k less. that 30 min train journey is an excuse not to go out waiting to happen - get a taxi back to twickenham from central at 3am? good luck with that. if you want sw quality accommodation or north london location then don't look at se1 or south london, you'll just get pissed off wasting your time looking and end up resenting the place if you do buy there.
kingston is where old (white) londoners go to die.

If I worked central I would be there in a shot but I don't. Not planning on changing jobs soon but not giving up the London life to live in kent.
I can get somewhere nice and safe in the Kingston area for £250k that will do until life changes course, need around £350k to get what I want in central and that is not achievable right now, in 5 years sure.
When I lived in richmond I used to get taxis back from central and god knows where twice a week, usually cost <£100. That was in the good times though.

Was looking at the possibility of living in Camden Town for two weeks at £230 per week. But was offered a sub-let by this girl for £240 for 3 weeks as she's moving out of her place in Walworth. Walworth obviously makes more sense.
I'm going to look at her room tomorrow, my only issue is that she's sub-letting - although it's only a short period of time is there a possible potential to be fucked over by the Landlord?
