Yeah those two met a sticky one. Really fucking horrific.
Just found a place near lancaster gate on Westbourne terrace, double height ceilings and a private balcony the size of my last flat for £605pm.
Cheap becasue of slack landlord and it being passed between friends, pretty lucky.
Hopefully no Cake and entering to be had round there.

Had an interesting proposition from my girlfriend's Aunt yesterday:
She lives in Kent but badly wants to move back to London. Doesn't have a steady income so she's saying she'll sell her house and put £100k down for a deposit on somewhere which she, my girlfriend and I can split into two entirely separate flats for which we (me and my girlfriend) would pay the repayments on.
Seeing as we're struggling to get a deposit together ourselves - seems like a pretty good opportunity - one that works out for the Aunt too.
Any thoughts

You lot must've been proper sheltered as children or something; New Cross and Peckham aren't anywhere close to "fucking nasty". Might be an age thing, but I'd much rather spend time in New Cross than Kingston. I think you have to leave London entirely to see real social deprivation.

New Cross has changed a lot in the past decade. Much safer these days.

The only people i know who live in new cross are students, never say its bad. I do agree that although there is obv some slums and pov people in london, i've never had trouble in london anywhere I've been. Get a lot more grief in the povo northern places.

New cross is grim but in terms of safety no different from most other places (inner ) London. Would rather be walking through new cross than any provincial town at kicking out time

Also if you want to spend a bit more money some decent places at the very end of Munster Road where it meets New Kings Rd, particularly the Italian "Nuovi Sapori"
