Tune Hotel near Liverpool St probably the cheapest.

Aly one know of any good hotels round Central Soho, Covent Garden, Leister Sq areas? I'm looking at St Martins Lane but its coming up at around £270 anything better or cheaper about?

Sub-£270 (i.e. none of the Firmdale group's Sanderson, Soho or Haymarket hotels) worth checking:
£££ - Dean St. Townhouse - check @sohohouse twitter feed, might be some deals kicking around - Shoreditch House is Liverpool St, so bit further from West End, but same group as Dean St, and arguably better spec (swimming pool, better bars, food, proximity to Redchurch St shops etc); rooms aren't too roomy, but chic enough. Trafalgar Hotel, Trafalgar Sq also can be quite decent value. Back Shoreditch-ward again, Zetter is good.
££ - York and Albany, Primrose Hill (Mornington Crescent tube or Regent's Park tube, v. close to West End)

Already checked Shorditch house (no rooms) and Dean Street (£££££) York and Albany has no rooms
I usually stay East, but the Mrs is heavily pregnant so we won't be going out on the piss as such, I'm getting tattooed in Soho and I wouldn't mind going to Balthazar, so it makes sense staying round Soho / Covent Garden .
Has anyone tried One Leicester Street, Town Hall hotels new place?

Planning heading down next month, where's good to stay these days?
Just been looking at the Ace Hotel Shoreditch and St Pancras Renaissance, anyone got any experience of them?

I normally go for the Hoxton, Ace hotel would be a lot more baller though

i stayed at the marin (?) apartments near tower hill, was surprisingly cheap. balling apartment.

I stayed at the ace when it opened and the Hoxton a few times. Ace wins in every category. It's worth the extra dollar. Have breakfast at hoi polloi and check the downstairs bar out. Hoxton feels a bit worn now, rooms are tatty

Booked the Ace.
Cheers for your input.

If you can get a theme room at the Hoxton then they are really decent. I got the Hoxton Manor one last time there and it was very good.

Stayed at the Ace last week, very good service and overall a nice experience. Interiors are much nicher than the building.

Want to book the Town Hall for long weekend in May, still good choice?

^Viajante has closed down. But this was never the 'hotels' restaurant. That's the Corner Room which is upstairs and is great (and still open).

I realy like it but it is abit out of the way and if the central line is down your fucked! past couple of times I've been down to London I've stayed at their new place, One Leiscester Street, right next to Leiscester Square, it's only small but I like it, if you drop them an email they do you a good deal, the bar guy does fucking awesome cocktails too

One Leicester Street breakfast is good too.
Suite is cheap for £125 a night
