If I pay for something over the phone & have someone collect it in store for me, am I still covered by the long distance selling regulations? I.e. Will I be able to return it for a full refund if it doesn't fit?

Is there any way around this with high end brands that only offer credit notes?

Want a pair of LV shoes for my holiday on Sat, they only have my size left in the Bond St. store but I can't get down there to try them & don't wanna be stuck with a credit note if they don't fit..

Explain the situation and ask them nicely if they'd accept the return? There's not much else you can do, besides going and trying them on

Bumping the thread…

Are you allowed to cancel an order from a UK online store (akin to the 7 day cooling off period) if the item hasn't been dispatched or any money debited from your account yet? Or is it up to the individual company to decide?

Yes, you can do that providing it's not something personalised or bespoke. Wouldn't make any sense for them to send the item if you're going to return it anyway

It's a table and chairs, got a hefty delivery charge. Just worried they'll charge a 'restocking' fee or something?

M&S said they would charge £50 or £100 to cancel an order I made for a bed. Can't remember if it was despatched or not though.

I'm guessing a lot of furniture is made to order, so you'd need to check the terms and conditions
