Zouk just off Oxford Rd is great. Suitable for a couple as well, nice and modern feel with shisha outside.

Akbars near Deansgate also decent, bit cheaper but very very busy and service a bit brisk. You get a lot of big groups as well so not a relaxed atmosphere.

Dont know about that place, but I normally avoid the curry mile.

I reckon Zouk is probably the best Indian restaurant in the city centre. Although the best actual curry is Marharba imo - which is a takeout and a place you wouldn't want to take the missus anyway.

Didn't rate Zouk at all when I went (admittedly was my only visit). Shoddy service and the food wasn't great either.

Surely there's better Indian restaurants than that in Manchester?

Attest to Akbars, both tasty and cheap as fuck. Think the service most of the time is amazing considering how busy it can be, and is the best in Manchester if you catch it on a good night. Might wait 20 minutes+ in the bar on a weekend.
The Garam Massala in Cheadle or Amans in Bramhall are next best for me if you get round them parts.
Preferred Mughlis before it went hoity toity.

Akbars- relatively cheap but great food, can't really book though and service isnt always the best.
East z East- just as good as Akbars, little dearer but overall great service.
Zouk- really, really good. Service was poor when I went though and they were playing house tunes :S

Kosmonaughts meant to do good food and know for a fact it's open tonight. There's also apotheca - you can order dough pizzas and other food to the bar, just make sure you arrive before or after the quiz.

Bit late for you but the food at Gorilla is decent, breakfast especially. Good service.

I like Kosmonaut for drinks, music is always decent as they have a dj but I went for a Sunday lunch and while it was pretty big and reasonable enough the service was dire. All the staff clearly half cut from the night before and couldnt be arsed.

Anyone know of any decent restaurants to eat that aren't gonna be rammed on a Saturday night? No cuisine preference.
