a smug bunch of ill-informed tossers giving bad service & advice.

i know the independent shop is a dying breed but fucking hell, if you are the only shop like that in the whole city, at least employ people that know their stuff, give a shit and want to sell clothes.

Tend to agree. Last time I bought something in store, that lad who looks like Napoleon Dynamite was at the till - didnt look at me and the only thing he said was the price.

Always act like its a massive deal if you want them to look for a size of something which isn't on the shop floor.

To be fair some are still really helpful and know their stuff but they seem to have so many staff its bound to get inconsistent (without naming names/describing them).

Laughing out loud at Napoleon Dynamite though, know exaclty who you mean.

Decent central hotel to stay in with the Mrs for a Sat night next month? Thinking either Double Tree or Crowne Plaza, both coming in around 125, anyone got any experience of either or other suggestions?

Thanks

The Hilton Doubletree is the former Mint Hotel, and before that, City Inn. It's hardly changed so if you're familiar with the former brands then you'll know what to expect. Businessy, closest hotel to Piccadilly Station, a few Mins walk from the cooler end of the northern quarter.

Crowne Plaza is closer to Victoria station and on the edge of the more commercial northern quarter. I've never stayed there though so can't comment, but it faces onto a carpark, but then it's not too far away from the marble arch pub.

Thanks - gone with double tree as best deal atm. Nothing is too far away it seems, so should be ok. Only for one night anyway…

Thanks but we don't need somewhere with BT or Sky as they can't show 3 o'clock Saturday games, we need somewhere with a foreign satellite feed

Which coffee shops are decent in central?

Also looking for somewhere for a laidback Sunday breakfast / brunch, I was recommended Cornerhouse or Simple

Thanks
