In Manchester for a few nights, misses is from manchester but has never been out there, where's good to go for nice drinks etc plus we are staying in the Heywood/Bury Village Hotel, what's the easiest way in and out of town? We won't be staying too late.

The northern quarter restaurant is good but it is smalls so you may hit an issue there. www.tnq.co.uk. The Venison is brilliant.

There is a new tapas place called la bandera opposite the grill on the alley which is meant to be nice, not been but reviews are good and interior looks good.

What other shops apart from Oi Polloi, Bionic Seven and Bags Of Flavor are they? It's been about 4 years since I last went.

Yeah, seems to be that way with most cities now, bar a few but then it's only 1/2 decent shops in a city. Shame really.

That's because it's approaching a saturation point. New stronger chains are taking hold and smaller, older independent bars will close. Prices of drinks will skyrocket as property owners put their rents up. When other leases are up, the landlords will increase the rent markedly as next door which was once selling cupcakes is now a Living Ventures bar with a rent four times what he is receiving. The area becomes swamped and loses it's identity.

Word.

Not shopped in Manchester for years, few indies dotted about in Chorlton/Withington & on the fringes but mostly a load of crap.
