Last minute valentines thing. Anyone know of anywhere that wont be busy that I can take a girl for chilled drinks?

Lost my Hawksmoor virginity at the soft launch last night.

Service was very good, although they didn't appear to have booked too much of the restaurant out.

Tried the scallops, Porterhouse with four sides (disappointed they'd ran out of the cottage pie potato skins though), and sticky orange pudding. Everything was really good, but no doubt it's pricey at full whack - 950g Porterhouse was £85.50 before the reduction.

The building and interior are all really well done and, on the whole, was very impressed. Will definitely be returning.

I missed out on the soft launch but booked in for a couple of weeks. Really looking forward to trying it, is the whole menu pricey?

They had a bone-in Sirloin for £25, ribeye was £30, fillet £32. Porterhouse is £9 per 100g, T-bone £8 per 100g, think Chateaubriand was £13 per 100g. Sides are £4-£5 depending on what you have. Scallop starter was £10, they also had some great looking pork ribs for the same price.

If you had 2 courses per person, with a few drinks (cocktails were really good), and you'll easily rack up £100 per head.

Looks like the prices are cheaper than the London outposts then. The D Rump they do is always a good shout and so is the burger but the latter always seems like a waste in a steak place.

So thats even one less menswear shop in Manchester, wasn't exactly groundbreaking but had some decent footwear and was a much easier cop for some exclusives when they went under the radar that they were stocking.

Exactly, the retail offering here is a lot poorer for it

Ran totally lost its way, brand offering in store wasn't great and the good stuff wasn't promoted enough, a website revamp and some good social media interns could have turned it around as it was there before many others so had a headstart.
Definitely some openings for niche menswear in the city if done correctly, for now though its utterly wank

Yeah its thoroughly depressing… tricky situation with exclusivity with a lot of brands by all accounts.

Time to get a few heads together!

Dont think Ran is completely gone, someone I know is re-designing their website. Not sure about the physical shop though.

Don't think they ever changed the brands, lyle and Scott, obey, 80s casuals, may have sold at some point but it wasn't going to keep them going forever
