North Tea Power for coffee. Federal is decent too.
Smithfield Tavern/Marble beerhouse/Cafe Beermoth for beer.
Bundobust does great Indian streetfood.
Oi Polloi is worth a look. Not much else in the way of decent independent clothes shops, but there are some interesting places for records, books and magazines and other odds and sods on and around Oldham Street.

El Gato Negro for tapas or just for a drink.
Wood & co next door good for a cocktail too (entrance round the back on king st. south and it is down some stairs)
Volta @ the principal hotel on oxford road for the bar, food or just the games room or lounge part.
the test kitchen in the arndale food market for asian fusion stuff. Cheap as too.

If you want a cafe, get a 'rice and three' curry from somewhere like Yadgar, Cafe Marhaba or This n That. Check weekend opening hours as they usually feed an army of weekday workers.

Marble Arch pub is awesome, worth the short walk.

Heard on the retail rumor-mill that Gap are closing in St Anne's Square soon, to be replaced by the city's first multifloor COS.

Can safely say Uniqlo will be opening in Manchester after seeing his latest render. Work already started.

Is the Deansgate area ok for a few drinks with the lady at night… or is it a towny nightmare on a Saturday? Looking for a good atmosphere after the Arena.
