My Deviant ArtA3 or volvo imo. Others lack class especially anything with a vauxhall badge. THe audi and volvo are a lot more understated. i've just started looking for a new motor in that price range too:

I dont need 4 seats and would probably be getting on a Personal Contract Plan. Depreciation on the scirocco is about 50% in 3 years but they offer a guarantee buy back price (although unlikely if the cars worth more at that time then i pocket the difference). The audi i looked at was 5 months old and with extras was 33k new and 22k now.
not to keen on the BMW's is there anything else a should look at you think?Cabriolets for women only. Have you driven a BMW 3 series coupe?
as far as i know the Scirocco is the gti underneath just slightly tweaked to improve efficiency (or so the bloke who was selling the car told me) it was really nice to drive. very punchy. The a4 im booked in for next week but as you say its a very different beast almost a bit middle aged?

WOOOSH then, but don't think best was joking. The price aren't going to be that cheap, like Noble said they are no secret and dealers are would be all over them.
Yes they will be cheaper, but if a lot of the cars are recovered from being stolen they will not be HPI clear as they are stolen/recovered and a lot will be missing history/log book etc.

Ive got aournd 15-25k to spend on a new motor and torn between a brand new Scirocco or as new A4 Cabriolet sline.
The Scirocco is lightening fast but its too boy racer. The audi seems a more refined choice but pretty safe in terms of appearance… anyone any other suggestions to throw into the mix before i pull the trigger?

Isn't the scirocco based on the old Golf GTI, and not the new shape Golf? Out of the two I would choose the A4, but they're both very different cars.
I would suggest a BMW 1 Series Convertible/Coupe, they're offering quite good deals on these at the moment.
Do you need 4 seats?
Are you getting finance? If so I would definitely consider the re-sale value in a few years time, you don't want to end up with something that loses value quicker than your repayments.

Mercs? The new C class is a very good car inside, very quiet and nice to drive. I don't think the a4 is too old man like.
Look at broadspeed.com for prices and discounts that dealerships will accept, if they don't, buy it through broadspeed. You should be able to get a great deal on a new car at the moment.
If depreciation wasn't an issue, I would definitely recommend the alfa spider / brera. The spider is a great car to drive and looks amazing.

Volvo c30 look good from the front but the back is terrible imo.
I hear your point on Cabriolet's i agree for the most although on the a4 it allows for a metal windsheild which i think gives the car a nice/differnt look to the other audis
The BMW coupe my bro has. Its a nice drive just not keen on the asthetics
Merc C class ill take a look. Alfas im unsure about i did look at the 156 GT a while ago but heard to many scare stories about the cost of keeping on the road
