60000 mile engine in them though isn't it? Struggles with short runs too and drinks oil from what I have read.

You can get them for a grand but there's a good reason.

Not sure what you mean by struggling on short runs, ideally you shouldn't spank any car until the oil is upto temp. Yeah they require an annual oil change and cost more on road tax but whats an extra 200 a year when your getting if for beer money.

MX5 is more fun/better car, there just tiny inside and have a bit of an image as a birds car - if that bothers your or not

I looked at them and most of the car forums recommended checking oil levels every 2 weeks, rotary engine after 60k can go at any point apparently. Has problems with flooding if the engine temp isn't up and you turn it off.

Really I know nothing about the cars other than what I read when looking into them, so could well be wrong.

Thought about leasing? Something for circa 120 a month would more or less match the depreciation of a car youd be buying + no hastle or surprise bills/better mpg/cheaper roadtax & insurance etc. Might be an idea if aint mechanically minded

Wasn't me originally asking, it was Gawk. I have in the past though but have always stuck to cheapish runarounds. I am not mechanical minded at all but should be getting an 05 Alfa GT in a few months Laughing out loud, sure it is going to be hassle but I know and trust a local Alfa specialist.

1. You can't lease anything apart from a Kia Picanto for £120 a month.

2. He's looking to buy a car for 2-3k, it will barely depreciate. Paying 1440 a year and not having a car at the end of it doesn't match that?

VW Up is less than a oner. Local garage near me adverises fiestas for 120 a month, similar to http://www.firstvehicleleasing.co.uk/car-leasing/ford/fiesta?pg=1
plenty of choice though
http://www.whatcar.com/car-leasing/deals/210/?to=150

depreciation wise is a fair point but I was talking about the overall cost of motoring ie. mpg/tax/insurance and im sure a lease deal would be financially cheaper over 12 months mainly with fuel use being the biggest contributor - some of these new eco engines are insane mpg. Im lucky to get 17..

He said a fun car. VW UP is shit.

Lease car costs 3k over 2 years, no car at the end. Save £1000 on fuel and road tax.

Bought car costs 3k, worth 2k after two years. Costs £1000 more on fuel/tax. Leaves £1k and you don't have to drive a soul sucking 1.0 UP round for two years.

Just saying. I think lease deals can be great sometimes, but not at this end/sector of the market.

he wants a 2-3k car, leasing would be dumb.
get an mx5, you'll be able to sell it for pretty much the same amount a year later.

plus you've owned one already, so know what to look out for. its a no brainer imo

What about a Golf Mk2 GTI? Depreciation proof if you buy the right one.

A 25 year old car as a daily is going to bend you with costs over 2 years. They were rust magnets in the 00's when we used to drive em never mind now

MX5 is a sensible choice for shed money. Personally, id just lease a fiesta and have hastle free driving/mod cons - Leasing gets zero love on here..

3 of the 4 tyres are 44 PSI, the other 50.

Do all of them need to be inflated to the same pressure?

I ask as have had a new tyre fitted (44) and light has come on the dash. wondering if this is due to the imbalance (currently all inflated to 43.

Bought them off ebay for about a grand. Then used Matt @ excel wheel (Porsche sub contract to him) to paint them. Top bloke he will even come out and loan you a set of wheels while he paints em. 911 design do clones but the extra curb weight can shorten the life of your suspension (or if you have PASM fuck it up)

Look great on white

Cheers, have spoken to Exel but not had a reply yet to some further questions. How much did he charge to do them black/polished lip? They look really good.
