Cheers Quest, all the servicing etc. is done by work so don't need to factor that in, can also charge it up there so effectively free miles on the commute as I don't live far away and it's all A roads full of traffic so rarely see 50.
Performance wise it's hard to justify anything more than the 330's as they are all capable of 0-60 in 6 seconds, how much more can you want from a family motor.
There's also a hybrid Merc on there (C350e) but not sure I could drive a Merc so haven't looked into it

I've got a C300h estate - it's fucking class. Switched from a 3 series and prefer the Merc. Handling not a patch on the beemer's though but don't know how much of that is due to being an estate (beemer was saloon).
I don't think you can get the 350e in AMG trim though?

I went and looked at a load of muels last week sat in and drove pretty much most exec cars I have to say the MY17 mercs are decent compared to the shite before them, they've really sorted their interiors out specially the new GLC GLE GLS.
Personally im going for a PCP on a 3 year old car and billing mileage back to the company - torn between an S Class and KN. The S would be the obvious choice but there just so damn big

Just buy/lease a beater and get the car you'd like to have. Never a good idea to pass on a car due to delivery time. Always a way around it.

I'd love a panemera however unless by some miracle I become mortgage free I can't imagine having that kind of coin to drop on a car

I agree the screen looks pretty ugly, but its also really, really useful.
Its a good position for it. For me anyway.
You could get a decent shooting brake for your budget.

yea CLS is defo on the list, I need to drive some though, 220d prices aren't much lower than 350d.

Can't help but think you will massively miss the RS4, its an exciting car and every drive feels like an occasion, whereas a diesel family car will just feel like a shitbox in comparison imo!
I assume its an avant? What's the spec, mileage and condition? What would you want for it?

Not sure that's entirely accurate

a recent 330d, for example is a only a bawhair away in terms of performance in comparison to a 10 year old RS4… granted you don't get the soundtrack, but you will get all the bells and whistles/mod-cons of a modern car. Let's not forget the fuel saving either!
Drop £500ish on a stage 1 remap and it'll be a fucking flying machine

Every drive doesn't feel like an occasion in a car I've been driving for 10 years. I rarely put my foot down anymore. Yes, the sound is the best thing but I need to be more sensible and would like some more mod cons and more luxury. The ride in the rs4 is hardly plush.
It's a saloon, 42500 miles. One owner from new, it will be one of the lowest mileage examples in the country and with one owner from new, I'll get 20k+ for it.
BMW's just don't do it for me though.

Don't be shy, Bill - let's see some pics of the RS!
