I think the new 5 series looks great, much nicer than the new e-class or a6, and the M5 will be a killer if the figures for the m550i are true. of course you'd prefer a lexus.
Controversial opinion maybe; but these sup'd up saloons are not designed for purpose imo - they are mass produced, utilitarian sales reps cars with some models retro fitted with uprated power, suspension and a body kit etc. so there loyal customer base have something to aspire to step up to trying to tick 2 boxes in one car
If you want a sports car buy one. If you want a mile eater buy one.

a recent 330d, for example is a only a bawhair away in terms of performance in comparison to a 10 year old RS4… granted you don't get the soundtrack, but you will get all the bells and whistles/mod-cons of a modern car. Let's not forget the fuel saving either!
Drop £500ish on a stage 1 remap and it'll be a fucking flying machine Not sure that's entirely accurate
If you have driven a RS4 and a 330d I don't think you would feel its like splitting hairs, on paper a 330d with a map may be close but the experience is nothing alike, the feel, the handling the noise etc isn't even remotely close, the 330d is a sales rep motorway barge, regardless of how quick it is in a straight line.
It's a well rounded car, but personally I don't think they can ever come close to a M car, RS or AMG.

So tacky and gaudy its like they're making cars for rappers and instagram's rich kids. Pretty much the same as Merc's exterior styling, chrome trims everywhere and stupid shaped huge chrome exhaust tips on what is supposed to be an understated luxury saloon.
Also the new C, E and S are literally the same car just different sizes.

Nah they aint all the same at all I sat in and drove some pre Xmas (unless you mean exterior but all those type of cars are). That S class pic is bad but you can chose normal light colour - this is the same lighting you get in a 7 or my KN I agree though they aim for a certain demographic. The E is kinda like the S just not burr walnut and nappa. The C isnt like either its kinda cheap inside its a bit of a volvo rip off with lesser materials and a tesco ipad knock off in the centre.

Yes mate was referring to the exterior styling being the same, even the tail-lights are identical on them, just smaller going down the range. Saw a new E-class the other day and thought it was an S-class.
Yes that tablet on the dash is hideous too! Merc's recent design is poor imo, no inspiration, but I guess in part that's down to them not caring as no matter what shite they produce people will buy it because of the badge.

Had this for a while, decent enough to drive and didn't hang around but felt like I needed to belong to the local golf club and be approaching retirement age. Not being able to fold away that ipad-sized screen is lame, looks like an afterthought that was stuck to the dash. Seats weren't all that either.
Got a 330D that'll need replacing in the next year or two and so far, new 335D M Sport is looking like best replacement.

I don't mind that tbh. For me, I still get plenty of looks in my car, despite it being 10 years old but from the wrong kinds of people. I think I've just lost the car bug, a year ago I was test driving RS6's and M4's, now I realize I don't care that much and can't afford them anyway.

Not impressed with BMW's interior quality, always felt it was a step down from Audi and Merc.

Nah, new Merc interiors lead the class

Privately? I had to literally give my 5 series away when I sold it last year, got sick of renewing the advert and wasting my time with 4 guys coming down in Micras, fiesta's civic's etc to look at a 10k car and then telling me they didn't have proof of insurance but they would be ok driving it as they had a big Audi at home.
Then about 6 weeks later some guy travelled down form Liverpool to the Midlands, didn't even drive, it or check anything, asked to see how big the boot was and said il have it, transferred the money on his phone and then couldn't figure out how to turn it on with the push start, so I went out to help and he then dropped it straight off a huge kerb and was on his way.
