lifes for living, not moralising about imo mate.
that picture of me in what do you look like next to my car gives me unbelievable memories and it made me want to aspire to always be a big hitter, and i loved that time in my life. (what will your memories be? cos you need to make them while your young, cos im telling ya you cant be arsed to enjoy them when your old)
oh and it was taken outside a rented flat i was living in.

This is a very valid point but, I wouldnt look twice at a boxster, Z4, Elise etc (no offence to any owners) but if I saw that maserati id think dude was a smooth pimp.

No im not but anyone whos seen the birds Ive been through would listen to what I have to say on the matter.
Cool

Not that I disagree about the Porsche though, the prestige speaks for itself.
Another thing to bear in mind is that (most, usually young) birds know fuck all about cars, I have a Volvo C70 2.5 and my birds mates thought it was a Mercedes CLS Puzzled

Well done genius. I clearly said no offence to any of the owners. And I obviously would swap my car for any of the above but I stand by what I said;
"I wouldnt look twice at a boxster, Z4, Elise etc".

I have (IMO) the best car I could get for the budget I had, that doesnt mean I cant comment on more expensive cars does it? So keep your laughing smileys to yourself no mark.

thought about a 350z?

if you get a boxster, just make sure its not stretching you, because if something goes boom, you're gonna need a LOT of cash for repairs.

if i were you, and im talking from personal experience as i spent around that much on my first car… buy cheaper, thats not to say dont buy something nice, but especially now as its still a buyers market, you can get a lot of car for your money (compared to when i bought mine, 6months after i bought mine i saw the same car spec selling for about 3+ grand less fml).
spend about £10k, and save the rest for repairs/other stuff. its nice to have a fun, fast, sporty car, but repairs arent nice, and although nothings gone wrong with mine (yet), its not nice driving around feeling its a time bomb waiting to happen.
talking from my cars perspective, as i cant speak to a porsche, but;
clutch = £800min
busted turbo = £1000+ easily
tyres = £150/each every 15k miles
i can imagine porsche prices to be a hell of a lot more. if you're mega ballin then its no problem, but you just need to make sure you've got money to cover these things.
whatever car you decide to go for, definitely buy from an enthusiasts forum - they would have thrown loads of money at their cars, so you dont have to!
test drive loads and buy what you prefer, who gives a fuck if your mate has the same car :S

buy a cheaper car than you have to spend, just in case of horrible bad luck that has never actually happened to me, but i read about a bloke on 'tt fans r us' once whos big ends went two weeks after he bought his 30k miles 5 year old car.
good advise that, not your advise but good advise.
ill counter it with, if phils car does blow up, all he has to do is eat healthily and join the gym and everything will be alright.

i think my advice is pretty good, considering we're both around the same age, and was in his exact same position a few years ago.. how is my advise bad? all im basically saying is be careful, and dont over stretch yourself. please advise/craig david me/fill me in (no homo)

in reply to your edit;
i am talking from reality… from my personal experience. i see everyday on car forums i post on, people who overstretch for a car they cant afford, boom, something goes wrong and they cant afford the repairs.
personally speaking i wouldnt give 2 shits if my mate got the same car as me, but ofcourse i dont have any, so i wouldnt know Cry

cars wear and tear. if you're buying a £30,000+ car for £10-15,000, its going to be a few years old, with a few miles on it, lets say 60k?
that means its cambelt time (£400), how long does a clutch last? they dont last the lifetime of the car, they are a part of the car that wears and tears, same as tyres. the fact is, cars can go wrong, and when a porsche goes wrong, its going to be expensive.

all im simply saying is, which i think is pretty good, yet simple advice… if you have £15k to spend, dont buy a car for £14,995, as if something does go wrong, even a puncture, its gonna cost you at least £300 (with budget tyres), as ideally you're gonna wanna replace both fronts, or both rears. the simple fact is, a lot of people dont take into consideration the running costs or repairs of cars.
